The adventures of Brave, however, are not limited to the Arthurian world: throughout the story, the protagonist travels across four continents (including Africa and America), fighting with various enemies (the Huns, the Saxons). Brave finds love in the person of Aleta, queen of the Misty Islands (located somewhere in the Mediterranean). He marries her and they have several children. The eldest, Prince Arn, has taken over the lead role in the series in recent years, although the title of the strip remains the same.
At the beginning of the series, supernatural elements abound, such as "swamp monsters" (dinosaur-like animals), witches, or the sorceries of Merlin and Morgan Le Fay, but these elements disappear as the story progresses, acquiring a more realistic tone. Prince Valiant has served as inspiration for several comics set in the Middle Ages. His exploits have been recognized in different legends, books, comics and movies.
A high quality replica of the Sword of Prince Valiant can be found in the collection of historical swords of the Toledo factory, Marto. The inscribed legend reads:
Invincible is he who uses me in a good cause
