Avalon is a mythical island that appears in the legend of King Arthur. In the "History of the Kings of Britain", Avalon appears as the island where the legendary sword Excalibur was forged, and Avalon was also the place where King Arthur recovered from his wounds at the Battle of Camlann. From the beginning, the island of Avalon was associated with mystical practices and people like Morgan Le Fay (a sorceress who appears in Arthurian legend).
In the Glastonbury chronicle it is stated that the bones of King Arthur and his wife were discovered on the island of Avalon. At a depth of 5 meters or so, near Avalon Island, a huge tree trunk coffin and a lead cross were found with the inscription: "Hic jacet sepultus inclitus rex Arthurus en la insula Avalonia" ("Here lies the renowned King Arthur on the island of Avalon"). Registration may vary, as there are five versions.

The oldest version where this inscription appears is that of Giraldo in "Liber de Principis instructione" in the year 1193, and he says that he saw the cross and read what it said: "Here lies buried the famous King Arthur with Guinevere his second wife on the island of Avalon." Giraldo affirms that inside the coffin there were enormous bones and that they are the bones of King Arthur.

The mythical island of Avalon was called the "Isle of Golden Apples and Eternal Life", Merlin's last home, fairy land and the resting place of King Arthur. Other stories say that the Island of Avalon was the place where Jesus landed with Joseph of Arimathea and years later the first Church of Great Britain was built.

The location of Avalon remains hidden, and there are many who claim the true location of the fairy island for themselves. Some scholars of the Arthurian legends have placed Avalon on the Ile Aval, on the coast of Brittany, and others closer to Camboglanna, in what is now called Castlesteads.

This sword is a faithful replica of a sword that belonged to a mythical character from the island of Avalon. Both the character and the island are shrouded in mystery and it is very difficult to say which hero bravely wielded this sword; only the sword is known to be related to the legend of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table.
